Partying with Krewe du Jieux, with pictures
On Friday, I was so sick. I dosed myself with Coricidin HBP and went to the last half of the Krewe du Jieux coronation. I was so ill that I forgot the camera. So—no pictures of that.
As I left the coronation, I heard this guy behind me exclaim: “The Jews know how to party!” I laughed and turned around. A tall slim black guy was talking on the phone. “Listen honey,” he continued. “I’m on my way home. I’ve just attended the coronation of the Kings of the Jieuxs and I’ve been made a knight in the nation of the Jieuxs!” It was a good evening. ”The knight” showed up on Saturday and you will see him in the photo labeled tableau.
By Saturday, I was better. Thank goodness, because I had to read “The Song of the Sea” in service. Only 4 verses, but I am enough of a perfectionist to be worried. All of the medicine probably calmed my nerves. Home again, and I plopped myself into bed. Got up at 3, piddled around and was downtown for 5:30. I ended up parking in Treme; the Marigny was already packed with cars. (Hence my problem locating the car later.) Anyway, the pictures follow.
Funny note: Picassa has a new option that attempts to recognize faces and name them. In every case, it did not realize that Roger’s, David’s, or L.J.’s features were faces. Perhaps it was the fake noses?
