So strange, after mentioning the “The Threepenny Opera” yesterday to find that another musical by Weill and Brecht was on public television last night:  “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny”.  It was as politically aware and wickedly satirical as “The Threepenny Opera”.  Its guns were also directed foursquare against American-style capitalism.  See the essay at http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/shows/mahagonny/essay1.html (for as long as pbs leaves it there.)  I had to review some work last night, so I was up listening to it until 2:30 am.   It is so strange thinking that both of these musicals are from the 1930 time period.  Their daggers are still sharp.

All but 1 of the special projects is finished!!  Dancing in the streets.  Still at home sick, but much feeling much better.
